Prior to joining Apple, Maria served at the Instructional Technology Coordinator and classroom teacher for the Mesquite Independent School District. In the role of Technology Coordinator of a 30,000 student school district, she was responsible for planning and delivering staff development that would excite and encourage teachers to integrate technology into their teaching practices.


As a result of the successful staff development programs that she designed and implemented as well as her innovative teaching, Maria was selected as an Apple Distinguished Educator in 1999, a select group of innovative U.S & international educators who have demonstrated exceptional use of technology both as an instructional and leadership tool


Maria understands how to effectively integrate technology across the curriculum, which is why she is looked to as a leader in the areas of instructional technology and professional development.  Maria has led workshops across the US including sessions at NECC, TCEA, FETC and Apple’s Leadership Institutes, which are designed to empower decision makers with the necessary information to make informed decisions when it comes to technology implementation.  Maria also assists in the planning and implementation of these hands on technology experience for teachers, district leaders and board members.


Maria has consulted with numerous school districts throughout the south while they were planning for technology infusion. This included the Texas Technology Immersion Pilot (TxTIP), which immersing all middle school students and teachers at seven middles schools throughout the state with a wireless computer.


Maria holds a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Masters degree in Education from the University of North Texas. 

Maria Henderson is a Development Executive for Apple.  She is responsible for field marketing in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Maria has over 20 years of experience as an educator and advocate for instructional technology. 


Maria began her professional career in 1985 as an elementary school teacher in the Dallas area.  She has taught grades Kindergarten through sixth grade as well as being a Gifted and Talented Education teacher.
